I found this image so captivating that I felt compelled to paint her. I was especially drawn to the striking contrast between her luminous opal skin and the weight and texture of her heavy dreadlocks.
For this portrait, I wanted to challenge myself by placing her in front of a patterned tapestry. The difficulty was in carefully drawing the design while keeping it soft and atmospheric enough that Lisbeth would still come forward. My goal was to let the tapestry enrich the portrait without overwhelming her presence.
