Marlena enjoys the commission process from the start, when she gets to know her clients and determine what kind of painting they are interested in. Usually subject matter, composition, size and price are discussed. With their vision or by helping them to create one she takes photographs and then starts on a brown and white preliminary oil sketch. This way the client can see the idea and decide if they like it or want something different. Once a sketch is agreed upon Marlena will accept a 50% deposit and begin the oil painting on a stretched canvas.
She begins all her oil paintings with a brown and white under painting much like the preliminary sketch. From there she ads color in glazes attempting to stay loose but aptly refining a likeness. Before completing the painting in color the client will be able to critique and ad any further small changes. The remaining balance will be due upon completion and at the time of delivery.
If desired Marlena will be glad to help with attaining a suitable frame for the painting.
